Am I a fool if I only do installment savings?

An acquaintance said this to me.
I only do installment savings because I absolutely hate taking risks.
To make big money with things like stocks, you have to invest heavily, but I don't have the guts for that.
Still, doing installment savings doesn't make me a fool, does it?
