2024: 0 KRW → 2025: 83.39 million KRW
→ 2026: 96.87 million KRW.
These fine statistics demonstrate that since the inauguration of the Lee Jae-myung administration, which declared a "war on industrial accidents,"
labor inspections on workplaces employing a large number of foreign workers
have become much stricter than during the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.
Shin Jeong-hun, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea
on the National Assembly's Climate, Energy, Environment, and Labor Committee,
analyzed data regarding 'inspections of workplaces with high foreign employment'
obtained from the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
As of August 26, the Lee Jae-myung administration has inspected 246 workplaces,
identifying 96 violations and imposing 96.87 million KRW in fines.
The amount has already surpassed the 0 KRW recorded during the Yoon Suk-yeol administration in 2024,
as well as the total 2025 fine amount of 83.39 million KRW.
While the previous administration limited its actions to warnings,
the Lee Jae-myung administration has increased the level of punishment,
shifting to strict supervision that imposes actual fines for legal violations.
