Why was living in Jeju Island such a trend?

To be honest, it's a place where you can see everything in just 3 days and 2 nights, and it's not exactly a place with decent jobs. When I went to the Jungmun complex in Seogwipo with a friend in early 2019, the transportation was so inconvenient that by around 9 PM, the buses heading to Jeju City were almost at their last run.
