Is the movie Resident Evil very violent?

I prefer watching horror movies in a crowded theater whenever possible.
However, I am not very good at watching movies that feature extreme violence, such as graphic bodily mutilation.
Since I have fond memories of enjoying the games in the past, I am interested in the upcoming movie, but how is it?
I am debating whether I should go to the theater this weekend or if it would be better to wait and watch it on an OTT platform later.
