Is there no way to choose a good dealer (salesperson) when buying a new car?

‌Anyway, when you go to a dealership,
the first employee you encounter is the one who assists you.
It feels a bit awkward to ask them what kind of service/perks they can offer and then say,
"Please introduce me to someone else" if you're not satisfied.
How do people usually select a dealer and negotiate?
I know the discount amount and service perks are at the dealer's discretion.
