Why do expos cost so much money?

No translation in your language yet — showing the English version

‌First of all, if you don't own the land, the land acquisition and site preparation costs account for more than half of the total..
As an aside... when an expo is held, people have to go see it, right? Where are most expos held..
Europe. Then, who goes to see them? First, local government heads... then related companies, and related civil servants...
They all go. Expo staff don't stay in their positions for many years either... it's one year if short, two years if long... and within that time, they all go on overseas training trips.
It costs a lot of money.
If this happens, the available budget is slashed... from then on... they end up supplying items that cost 100 won for 300 won. Then,
the original budget disappears... and it becomes impossible to manage..
I think expos that receive national government funding should be legally prohibited altogether..... Also, they don't even think about post-expo measures once the venue is finished... they just abandon it...
This is a repeating cycle...
This is a problem with local governments nationwide. Their mindset is "Let's just do it while we are still in office"... and billions of won are spent..
There isn't a single mural village or suspension bridge in the country that doesn't exist... they all have them.. but who goes to visit them more than once?
Once the local government head retires, it's over.... This is the problem with South Korea...
