Why there is no need to attach special significance to Yongsan Park
First of all, Seoul is not a city lacking in green spaces.
And even if there is a park, it only benefits local residents.
It doesn't have any symbolism significant enough to warrant grand meaning.
Whether it's Seoul Forest, Seoul Botanic Park, or Bukhansan Dream Forest,
does having them exert massive influence? Not really.
They are just places for local residents to relax and they affect housing prices.
The only problem is that they are planning to build rental apartments on the last remaining
large-scale developable land in Seoul.
Developing it in a way that matches its value would be more
helpful than making it a park.
There is no possibility that developing Yongsan Park will allow it to play a role like Central Park.
It's not as if that land has some special history;
I believe it is right to pursue development that matches its value.
The best option would be for the state to lead the construction of something like a future-oriented R&D center in high-rise buildings, while also including rental housing for young people. This would maintain Seoul's international competitiveness while also seeking housing price stability, but the problem would be the uproar over "balanced regional development" and such.
