The appellate court ruled, “Considering the defendants' motive, method, and the severity of the victim's injuries, the original sentence is very heavy,” adding, “The victim has not forgiven them and is seeking severe punishment.”
However, the court explained the reasoning for the sentencing, stating, “The attack does not appear to have stemmed from a definitive intent to murder the victim, nor did it result in the loss of life,” and “The original sentence is somewhat heavy compared to the degree of the crime committed.”
Hmm... I thought if they hit the head with a hammer 10 times and the person died, there wouldn't be much to do, but since they survived for now....
Seriously... I wonder why the doctor even testified when it's ultimately up to the judge's discretion.
