They're saying I should get driver's insurance with a lawyer rider because the supplementary investigation power was abolished?

They say you should hire a lawyer right from the police investigation stage
because if you're not careful, you're screwed without even getting a supplementary investigation..
But surely that won't happen with our almighty police officers, right?
They are national civil servants who wouldn't make mistakes like that.
