Promising Departments in Colleges of Education in the Era of Low Birth Rates

‌

Earlier this year, the competition rate for elementary special education teacher appointments became similar to that of general elementary education, and it is expected to surpass it within a few years.
Due to the low birth rate, other teaching positions are expected to undergo large-scale reductions in the future, but since the number of children with disabilities is on an upward trend, the scale of recruitment for special education (especially elementary special education) is actually expected to increase.
Furthermore, because the Department of Elementary Special Education does not have alternative certification routes through teaching credentials or graduate schools of education, the scarcity of supply is being maintained.
Among students preparing for entrance exams, if they have no aversion to children with disabilities and a strong desire to become a teacher, I recommend special education.
