Honam Semiconductor just needs to build the infrastructure and wait for its turn

No translation in your language yet — showing the English version

Once Hynix's Yongin Y1 and Y2 fabs enter full operation with investments of approximately 120-150 trillion KRW each, capacity will increase by about 100-120% from existing levels.
Hynix has decided to invest 35 trillion KRW in Y2 up to the completion of the cleanroom and begin construction next year, but the strategy for Samsung and Hynix is to build only up to the cleanroom stage and then adjust the speed of equipment installation in phases depending on market conditions.
Hynix's plan for Yongin spans from Y1 to Y4.
For Samsung, the priority is the twin fabs P5 1 and 2, and Yongin is still a lower priority.
In Samsung's case, Yongin comes after Pyeongtaek, so it will take more time to reach Honam.
If infrastructure is built in Honam, they will eventually move in, but since it's not a 1 or 2 trillion KRW investment—it's over 30 trillion KRW just to get to the cleanroom stage—Honam will have to wait a while.
