I think Lunar New Year and Chuseok might eventually become one-day holidays

Was it during the Chun Doo-hwan era?
I didn't experience it myself,
but I heard they once tried to abolish the Lunar New Year.
They only kept the Solar New Year,
but back then, performing ancestral rites was considered a given,
so people would use up all their leave to align with the Lunar New Year.
I believe they brought it back because of that.
These days, it seems like quite a lot of households no longer perform ancestral rites.
They will probably gradually disappear,
and since the reason for having a three-day break was to go back to one's hometown for ancestral rites,
it will likely change to a one-day holiday.
