A Great Speech

The first commandment that progressives must uphold is consistency. We must not be elected on one promise only to implement different policies later. We must not betray the trust of the people. (Omitted) We have sometimes suffered due to our own political naivety. Even after winning elections, we abandon the very policies that got us elected due to pressure from the media, financial markets, and conservative elites. When we try too hard to please everyone, we lose our credibility." — Lula da Silva
