Short review of "Possible Love"

It is a good movie.
It was a film that once again showed, without fail, what Lee Chang-dong does best.
His skill in posing questions to the audience by densely driving characters through ethical dilemmas, inner hypocrisy, or their bystander attitudes remains excellent.
However,
compared to the long running time,
the plots in the first half didn't feel like they served distinct roles,
so until the bathroom scene, it felt a bit like
the same story was being repeated.
For that reason, I think for an audience watching the film,
"Secret Sunshine" feels a bit more accessible and vibrant.
After finishing it, what I liked most was the title.
The phrase "Possible Love" felt like an ambiguous term posing questions such as:
- Is solidarity and goodwill between classes truly possible?
- Or is "possible" love only perpetually possible
for those living within the same actual boundaries?
But ultimately,
I felt it was a self-reflective question directed at the creator themselves—
questioning whether their own actions in turning someone else's pain into a feature film
to be consumed as media
can truly be an act of sincere goodwill toward those members of society.
