Reasons Why Joseon Fell into Chaos (1)
Joseon was originally a strong nation.
It was a country that could easily suppress the Japanese pirates to the south and the Manchurian Jurchens to the north, who would later become the Qing Dynasty.
The problem is that this lasted only about 60 years, from King Taejo to King Danjong.
From the reign of King Sejo onward, the country began to fall into complete disarray.
The justification for Sejo's coup was to eliminate powerful ministers like Kim Jong-seo and Hwangbo In, but from Sejo's reign, the powerful ministers became incomparably worse, and the kings were unable to control them.
Figures like Han Myeong-hoe, Jeong In-ji, Shin Suk-ju, Hong Yun-seong, and others....
Since Danjong was deposed (or abdicated?) at age 14 and killed at age 16, couldn't his uncle Suyang have protected him until he was old enough to rule personally while serving as Chief State Councillor?
The bloodline of Munjong vanished, and from this point, Sejo's bloodline persisted tenaciously until the fall of the Joseon Dynasty under Sunjong.
Through his descendants—Yeonsangun, Seonjo, and Injo—the country was ruined. While there were dreams of a brief revival during the eras of Yeongjo and Jeongjo, things went even worse after that.
You could view Sejo's bloodline as a curse itself.
This is because he committed acts that no human being should ever do.
And if he had done well, it might have been different, but from Sejo onward, the dynasty became a source of constant nuisance and systemic corruption for the people.
