Military service was a waste of life 30 or 40 years ago, too

‌Since there is no way to avoid it, you just go.
Being born in a divided nation,
if people don't go, the military can't be maintained,
and if you don't go, you get punished, so there's no choice
but to go.
How many people actually go out of patriotism?
At best, through the gaslighting and brainwashing by the state,
people just settle for a tiny sense of satisfaction(?) like, "Yeah, I contributed to the country."
If you asked people 40 years ago or even earlier whether they wanted to go or not,
how many would have actually said yes?
At least these days, it's a relief that they provide at least some monetary compensation.
