The Commonality Between Lee Jae-myung and Hong Myung-bo

No translation in your language yet — showing the English version

I believe that the factor that cut his approval rating—which was nearing 70%—in half is his past method of success that made the current Lee Jae-myung who he is today.
As a thorough non-mainstream member of the Democratic Party, from his time as Mayor to Governor, until he reached the pinnacle of the presidential mainstream,
he reaped significant benefits by co-opting and appointing those who opposed and conflicted with him (the so-called "Seongnam faction),
and thus expanded his political standing.
It seems he firmly believes that such actions, even while becoming a major target of the establishment in this society,
served as the very stepping stone that allowed him to survive.
His omnivorous political approach, described as so-called affinity, social skills, and pragmatism, is strikingly evident even after becoming the party leader.
During his time as party leader, he gave key positions to figures like Yoon Ho-jung, Kang Hoon-sik, Park Hong-geun, and Park Yong-jin—those who stood at the center of the "anti-Myung" movement and essentially handed him over to the prosecution.
He even kept Song Mi-ryung, who served as a minister under Yoon Suk-yeol,
and attempted to entrust the country's affairs to people like Lee Hye-hoon, who defended insurrection.
There is a very high probability that he does not understand why appointing Kim Ji-yong, a former pro-Yoon prosecutor, to the position of Head of the Central Investigation Agency would cause such backlash.
He is likely thinking to himself, "I've been staying quiet, so why is everyone suddenly acting up? They used to worship Moon Jae-in no matter what he did,"
and is likely pouring out a stream of tweets every night in bewilderment and anger.
Lee Jae-myung should no longer insist on his past methods of success.
Following the December 3rd coup by Yoon Suk-yeol and the military/prosecution, he had established himself as a mainstream figure in our society;
despite having the highest number of votes among progressive presidential candidates in the election, approval ratings exceeding 60% at the start of his term, and an overwhelming number of around 180 seats in the National Assembly,
he threw away half of his approval rating by walking the same path as before.
I see an overlap between him and Hong Myung-bo,
who lost all his fame and status
by stubbornly insisting on the 3-5-2 tactic
that worked well in the past and led him to success.
I will not support him again,
but I hope he realizes this now.
