It seems the Korean home appliance business is on the decline.

The 85-inch Samsung TV I purchased four years ago suddenly died overnight with the screen bleeding and overheating.
When I called for after-sales service, they said the TV's warranty period is 2 years, so I had to pay 28,000 KRW just for the technician's visit.
The technician said the entire panel needs to be replaced, and the repair cost would be at least 780,000 KRW, but with various extras, I should expect to pay over 1 million KRW.
Since a TV just sits in one place and only turns on and off without any motors, I thought it would last at least 10 years once purchased, so it was quite absurd to see it die completely after only 4 years.
Samsung Service had no solution other than saying it's a matter of luck and ending the conversation.
When I asked how long the repair would be guaranteed if I paid over 1 million KRW, they said the repair warranty is only 1 year, and after that, I would have to pay for repairs again... and they even said I should allow about 3 weeks for the repair period..
I didn't feel like repairing it at all.
So I decided to buy a new one, and while looking around, I found that Coupang offers its own 5-year warranty.
As I looked into things on Coupang, I saw many Chinese TVs; brands I had never heard of before, like TCL or Hisense, had almost half the price of Samsung or LG for the same specifications.
So I became interested and did some research on Chinese TVs, and it turns out they are already fighting for the 1st and 2nd place market shares in the US. There isn't much technical difference from Samsung or LG, the price is half, and since repair costs are astronomical once the warranty expires anyway, people just throw them away and buy new ones..
If the price is the same, Chinese TVs have much better specs, and if the specs are the same, Chinese TVs are much cheaper. Since Chinese brands are major players overseas, it makes me hesitate.
In reality, once the 2-year warranty period ends, there is almost no difference in after-sales service, so what is the reason to use expensive domestic appliances?
Just as Sony and Toshiba fell in the appliance industry, I feel like the day when Samsung and LG will have to hand over their throne to Chinese companies is not far off.
