Watching Japan's Nobel Prize Wins

It seems too difficult for our country to overcome the barrier set by Japan.
As decades pass, I get the feeling that the US, Russia, and Japan have a firm grip on the field of basic science. Our country is vulnerable in basic science; while there are people making achievements in applied fields... there is also the outflow of national wealth due to licensing fees for original technologies...
Both our politics... and our science...
I am concerned that one day, we might be invaded by Japan again just like during the Japanese colonial period... and that pro-Japanese collaborators will be cheering for it.
