Recommendation for the webtoon "Kalburim" (Sword Fight), running for over 12 years

Most characters, except for the protagonist, are real historical figures, and the historical research is excellent.
It begins with the Injo Restoration and Yi Gwal's Rebellion,
and figures like the Hangwae (former Ming soldiers who joined Joseon) such as Kim Chung-seon and Seo A-ji were all real people.
The general of slave origin, Jeong Chung-sin, and Han Myeong-ryeon are also real historical figures,
as are the ministers of Gwanghaegun and King Injo.
Furthermore, the Later Jin and Qing dynasty warriors, as well as the Joseon surrender forces, are all based on real history.
Since the majority are real historical figures, the historical research and documentation must have been very difficult.
Nevertheless, it has been serialized for over 12 years and has received critical acclaim.
It is a historical epic webtoon covering about 50 years through a fictional protagonist,
focusing on the most difficult period for our ancestors from the late 16th to the early 17th century.
To be honest, it is a period that is embarrassing and makes one want to erase it from history, so it is easy to want to avoid it,
but author Ko Il-kwon makes it impossible not to keep reading.
