Regarding "The Assassins," contrary to conservative predictions, neither the left nor filmmakers will join the fray.

No translation in your language yet — showing the English version

‌The reason is simple.
Conservatives keep talking about the "far-left" and whatnot, but
"The Assassins" itself wasn't created by the far-left, nor is it related to the core of the left-wing movement.
The left-wing camp didn't provide the production funds either.
Director Hur Jin-ho has no left-wing history, and among the cast, there is no one who could be labeled as part of the "left-wing core."
The person being targeted is Kim Go-eun—but Kim Go-eun wasn't even involved in the production to begin with. She is just being publicly ridiculed
because she wrote something wrong in a guestbook.
Ultimately, I view this as a commercial film made by Director Hur Jin-ho—who profited from "The Last Princess," a film centered on historical distortion and anti-Japanese sentiment—after seeing the success of films like "12.12: The Day."
Writing something like this will probably get me branded as far-left again,
but on Bulpen these days, being accused of being Ilbe one day and far-left the next is just a daily routine.
