What should I do if the Demonic Cult approaches me on my way to join the Mount Hua Sect?

I am someone currently preparing to join the Mount Hua Sect, having been captivated by the Plum Blossom Divine Fist. (I plan to depart in October)
There is one thing I am worried about.
Since I have no prior experience in the Murim, I feel like I wouldn't notice if the Demonic Cult or the Unorthodox Factions approached me on my way to Mount Hua.
To be honest, I think I might be a bit tempted if they offer to rapidly increase my internal energy or claim to have excellent secret manuals.
I am worried that if I follow them and end up learning something like Demonic Arts, it might cause problems later when I try to join the Mount Hua Sect.
Is there a common way to distinguish whether someone is from an Orthodox or Unorthodox faction when you first meet them?
If someone from the Pear Blossom Palace or the Emei Sect approaches me, I would be open to listening to them.
