This is tough...
I am a man in my 40s.
My family's finances became difficult when I was in middle and high school..
I managed to scrape through university by taking on debt.
I've lived life diligently, and I think my earned income has reached the top 1%,
but
- I spent the first few years paying off my student loans..
- I support my elderly parents
Because these overlapped, saving wasn't easy, and by the time my income rose to a certain level, housing prices had skyrocketed.
I have enough income to handle a loan of about 1 billion KRW, but with the strict loan regulations, I can't help but sigh.
I started from nothing and worked hard, but because my income is high, there seems to be no consideration for home ownership.
If I save for a few more years to buy a property in a mid-to-low tier area of Seoul, the prices will probably have gone up again, right? ㅜ.ㅜ
