I just watched Assassins, and I don't understand why Yoo Hae-jin is getting criticized

It would make sense if characters like Lee Min-ho or Bat Hae-il—who are portrayed as leftist intellectuals and even act up during interviews—were getting criticized. But Yoo Hae-jin's character is just an ordinary citizen cop who was doing his job diligently, only to get caught up in things and complain about how unfair it was. Is he just getting hate because he's not conventionally handsome and seems like an easy target?
Of course, I fully understand why the director and producers are being criticized for making a conspiracy theory movie in the current political climate.
