3-Month Review After Driving as a BYD Owner

No translation in your language yet — showing the English version

I purchased a BYD Atto 3 in June and have been driving it for 3 months.
I bought it for 31 million KRW with a partial down payment and 48-month interest-free financing. The price is affordable, and I am quite satisfied.
Acceleration is quite good. Since it is an EV, it moves quickly when you step on it. I haven't tried reaching the top speed, but it feels like it struggles to accelerate further once it hits 140 km/h. It might be because I am in Eco mode.
It is quiet up to 80 km/h. At speeds above that, road noise increases significantly. The ride quality is better than my previous vehicle, a YF Sonata.
I use the semi-autonomous driving feature frequently; it holds the lane quite well and is very useful. My wife's car is a 2020 Lexus ES300, and this performs better than that, but it's slightly less effective at lane keeping than my company car, which is the current Grandeur model.
In terms of electricity consumption, I get about 7–8 km per kWh. This is better than the official efficiency rating.
The pros are that it is cheap and comes with many features like an Around View Monitor, making it a great choice for commuting. However, there is zero "prestige factor" when getting out of the car, so it's not a vehicle for someone who cares about what others think.
It is best viewed as a model that is slightly larger and has slightly more convenience features than other EVs in the same price range.
The cons are that it doesn't have rain-sensing wipers, which is inconvenient when it rains. It has many options, but this one was left out. Also, it lacks subtle details. The placement of cup holders, handles, and buttons feels like they were just put in wherever, rather than being designed for user convenience. Of course, considering the price...
It is perfectly suitable as a pure commuting or business vehicle. I drove this car in China for about a year, and since the Atto 3 domestic model is an older version and BYD doesn't exactly have a reputation for being a high-end brand even in China, I hesitated a bit. However, it is undoubtedly a decent, unremarkable, value-for-money car.
In any case, the number of EVs will increase in the future, and many good electric vehicles will be released. I hope domestic Korean EVs become a bit more affordable as well.
