Park Geun-hye's position regarding the claim that Kim Jong-il apologized regarding the Moon Se-kwang incident
Content from former President Park Geun-hye's autobiography and direct interview autobiography (Despair disciplines me, and hope moves me):
In her autobiography published in 2007, former President Park personally wrote about the situation during her visit to North Korea in May 2002 to meet with Chairman Kim Jong-il. Chairman Kim Jong-il first mentioned the January 21 Incident of 1968 and apologized, saying, **"At that time, extremists committed a mistake. I feel sorry. Those who committed that act all received their deserved punishment."** Clarification regarding the incident involving First Lady Yuk Young-soo: When foreign media (such as Japan's Jiji Press) released false reports suggesting that "Kim Jong-il also expressed apologies regarding the First Lady Yuk incident," former President Park and her aides immediately dismissed and denied the rumors, stating, "We have never heard any apology or mention from Kim Jong-il regarding the incident involving my mother (First Lady Yuk Young-soo)."
Park Geun-hye also stated it was not the case.
