I lost my son's bicycle. I need the power of the Bobae community.
It feels like I am posting for the first time in nearly 30 years. I am a long-time lurker who has been watching this community since my mid-20s. haha

Unlike my first child, my second child was born after our life had stabilized, so I raised him without any lack. However, yesterday's incident has caused me to change my mindset. Back when my youngest was in middle school, his close friend enjoyed riding MTB bicycles, so I bought him a somewhat expensive bike so they could ride together. Since then, perhaps due to "gear acquisition syndrome," he has changed his bike more than five or six times up to the present, as he is now a high school freshman.
Anyway, his most recent bike is the hybrid-style mountain electric bike in the photos. I am told this is a custom-assembled product and there is only one such unit in the country, with the assembly cost alone being approximately 6 to 7 million KRW. He uses this to commute to school and academies, but the problem is that he leaves it parked without any locks.
I have scolded him and warned him several times, but even after being stolen twice, he didn't improve. Fortunately, we were able to find it again thanks to a tracker, but during the second theft, we even filed a police report. Eventually, a boy around my son's age who had been riding it secretly was sent to the prosecution for theft. As a parent, I even wrote something similar to a petition asking for leniency, but that incident left me feeling uneasy for quite a while. Since then, he seemed to have started using at least some flimsy locks.
In the end, it seems he left it parked in front of his school without locking it again yesterday afternoon, and it was stolen. This time, they even skillfully removed and threw away the anti-theft GPS device that was hidden in the frame before taking it. I didn't scold him too harshly. It seems he already got a long lecture from his mother for over an hour... Anyway, from now on, I do not intend to buy him anything more than necessary, whether it is cheap or expensive. I believe one must experience inconvenience to realize the value of things that were once comfortable.
My venting has gone on too long. If any Bobae brothers happen to see a bicycle like the one in the photos below, please contact me. I will provide a reward. He lives near Tanhyeon-dong, Ilsandong-gu.
Thank you for reading this long post, and I hope everyone stays healthy and keeps smiling even during these difficult times~ (Contact: 010-9048-0742)
