I watched "Beasts Clawing at Straws" (The Aggressors)

"The person who hit someone became a cop. But the guy who got hit
gets beaten even more damn hard... right, Gol-bing?" This line
from the movie stuck with me the most. It shows the reality
that anyone can become an aggressor depending on the situation.
In the history of Korean cinema, it's rare to find a work that
uncovers human sadism, contradictions, and the cycle of violence
in such an unsettling and realistic way.
It maintains a suffocating tension throughout the entire viewing.
The strange tone between black comedy and thriller, and the fact
that the situation itself can be very uncomfortable and unpleasant,
actually made that unique atmosphere feel even more compelling.
The chilling, raw acting of Lee Moon-sik and Bong-ju-ri's gang
is amazing, and even though his screen time isn't massive, Han Suk-kyu's
shameless and spine-chilling presence in the latter half
is nothing short of explosive.
Rather than mainstream entertainment, this is a film that is extremely polarizing.
3.5/5
