You can't just fire regular employees at large corporations lol

If a baseball player signs an FA contract and performs poorly,
they'll get all sorts of hate, lose their starting position, be mocked, and feel humiliated.
But does that player ever say, "I'm not worth the money, so I'll give up my remaining salary and leave on my own"? lol
It's exactly the same. Athletes have contract periods, so if you don't renew them, that's that.
But for office workers, if they just hold out until their 50s, how on earth are you going to get rid of them? lol
Even banks can't just fire people easily, so they say, "We'll give you several years' worth of salary, please leave ㅠㅠ"—that's what they do under the name of "voluntary retirement."
