Commemorating Hangeul Day
We honor King Sejong the Great, who created Hunminjeongeum.
--------------------------------------------------------
The proper sounds to instruct the people....
We honor the national linguists who protected Hangeul during the Japanese colonial period.
Recognizing the potential danger of Hangeul, the Japanese Governor-General of Korea forced people to change their surnames and given names, and encouraged the use of Japanese instead of our own language.
-------------------------------------------
If Hangeul had never been invented... we would likely still be learning the Thousand Character Classic, reciting "Sky, Heaven, Earth, Ground, Black, Mysterious, Yellow, Imperial..."
Efforts were made to promote the excellence of Hangeul to the world... but countries like France, in particular, strictly blocked it, even preventing it from gaining status as a second foreign language...
But the world has changed. Due to the influence of BTS, people are now voluntarily seeking to learn Hangeul.
Hangeul, the beautiful phonetic script.....
