The number of middle-aged individuals in the "inactive" category who responded that they "looked but could not find a job" reached 30.8% for those in their 40s and 22.9% for those in their 50s. Additionally, those in their 40s and 50s who cited "lack of jobs matching their major or career experience" accounted for 12.0% and 9.1%, respectively.
