It seems Samsung Electronics has no runners in its upper management...
At a time when running has gone beyond being a trend and people are even discussing when the craze might end,
Samsung has announced the Galaxy Buds On, a clip-on type earbud.
However, the control method is touch-based.
This made me wonder, "What on earth were they thinking?"
Anyone who runs or works out at the gym will know this.
You know how difficult and unresponsive touch controls become when your hands are sweaty...
There is a reason why brands like Shokz and Bose equip their clip-on earphones with physical buttons or pressure sensors.
The fact that they released a touch-based product when its main purpose is actually for exercising
suggests that none of the decision-makers are actual athletes.
This isn't just limited to this clip-on earbud;
it is also evident in the Galaxy Watch.
The GPS accuracy of the Galaxy Watch lags behind other companies,
and the quality of its running-related apps is also quite poor.
They are merely imitating competitors; compared to Garmin or Coros, of course,
the fitness data is flimsy, and it falls far short of Apple as well.
Even Google is making attempts to interest runners
by trying to improve GPS accuracy through integration with Google Maps
in areas where it is difficult to catch a GPS signal,
but Samsung seems to be taking a superficial approach,
and they don't seem to realize that they are failing to appeal to people who actually exercise.
