Spanish and Italian people look surprisingly different

I thought they would look similar since both are in Southern Europe,
but Spaniards have the typical Southern European look with black hair and aren't very tall.
In Italy, there are more blond, tall people than I expected, and they have a somewhat "greasy" look (like they've been smeared with butter).
