Just looking at the three people involved in the recent football military exemption controversy shows how important social awareness is

I'm sure they had absolutely no ill intentions.
But their lack of social awareness was truly terrible.
If you work in a company with a "community-style" mindset, you end up exactly like that.
Thinking things like, "I just need to do my job well" (in reality, people like this often struggle to do their jobs well).
Or saying, "What am I supposed to do about the atmosphere or social cues?"
They are national football players, so they are young and can get away with it.
But if an ordinary person lacks social awareness and fails to read the room in a regular workplace, they are doomed.
