Moon Jae-in's Responsibility

The head of the prosecution that conducted an all-out investigation into Cho Kuk's family
was Yoon Suk-yeol, whom Moon Jae-in appointed.
The Moon Jae-in administration failed to control Yoon Suk-yeol
or remove him from his position as Prosecutor General,
and Yoon Suk-yeol used that experience as Prosecutor General
as a stepping stone to become the People Power Party's presidential candidate.
What is even more shocking is the fact that
certain factions that fervently supported Moon Jae-in
abandoned the Democratic Party's official candidate
and publicly declared their support for Yoon Suk-yeol.
Despite this, Moon Jae-in
did not draw a firm line against them.
The election ended with a difference of only about 0.7 percentage points.
Moon Jae-in bears not only the personnel responsibility for selecting Yoon Suk-yeol,
but also the responsibility for failing to control prosecutorial power
and the political responsibility for neglecting
the deviations of the pro-Moon factions.
It was only in February 2025 that Moon Jae-in
admitted that he deeply regrets appointing Yoon Suk-yeol,
stating that he bears the greatest responsibility
for the birth of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.
However,
that belated apology does not erase
his silence and lack of response during the 2022 presidential election.
When Lee Jae-myung was Party Leader,
two days before the National Assembly vote on the motion to arrest Lee Jae-myung,
it is said that Moon Jae-in visited Lee Jae-myung, who was on a hunger strike in the hospital,
and told him,
"You are not alone anymore,
you must regain your strength and fight again."
However,
he did not publicly say
that the motion to arrest should be rejected
or that party lawmakers must unite.
There were even reports that
just before the vote, heavyweights from the "Bemyung" (non-Lee Jae-myung) faction
demanded Lee Jae-myung's resignation, renunciation of nomination rights,
or stepping down to a second-tier position as conditions for rejection.
"The prosecution's attempt to arrest the opposition leader
must not be used as a means
for Democratic Party division and power bargaining.
The status and nomination rights of the leader elected by party members
must not be traded as conditions for the arrest motion vote.
The Democratic Party must unite."
Moon Jae-in did not say these words.
Even after the motion was passed, he did not criticize the lawmakers in question
or demand a fact-finding investigation.
I personally have doubts.
Ahead of such a critical vote involving the fate of the party
and the custody of the leader of the primary opposition party,
is it possible that certain key pro-Moon and non-Lee Jae-myung figures
did not seek any opinion or
advice from Moon Jae-in?
Was there no communication with Moon Jae-in?
If they had sought advice from Moon Jae-in,
what on earth would Moon Jae-in have said?
Of course, there is no evidence to prove this.
If Moon Jae-in had given them advice,
since they were facing an event as massive as a nuclear storm,
I do not know
what kind of advice Moon Jae-in would have given them then.
But I cannot help but have reasonable doubts.
Moon Jae-in's responsibility
lies not in direct involvement,
but in hiding behind ambiguous neutrality at every decisive moment
and neglecting the division of the party and the pressure on Lee Jae-myung.
