I feel like basketball academies for kids are useless

‌In baseball, there's a clear difference between those who play and those who don't, so it seems like there's something to be gained from attending a baseball academy.
One of my two kids attends after-school basketball, and the other goes to a basketball academy,
but I honestly wonder what they are even learning there.
They can't even do the basics that should be natural without being taught.
I wonder if it's because they aren't that interested.
