Basic Preparations for Traveling Abroad with Young Children

No translation in your language yet — showing the English version

Traveling abroad with young elementary school students or toddlers can make the time spent on the plane quite difficult.
While many people prepare thoroughly, it's also heartbreaking to see parents who are completely unprepared, simply trying to coax children who are throwing tantrums.
It is only natural for children to find long flights boring and exhausting.
1. Tablet, downloaded videos, and headsets (earphones) combo
If you have two children, prepare a splitter jack so two pairs of earphones can be connected.
You might worry about them watching videos for too long, but if you show them videos outside of nap times to avoid disturbing other passengers, they will stay quiet.
2. Gaming consoles
They might get bored of just watching a tablet, so having something like a Nintendo Switch is even better; a headset is a must.
3. Straws
Some children cry because their ears hurt due to air pressure changes during takeoff and landing; it is said that sipping in-flight drinks through a straw can help during these times.
4. Pre-select seats so parents are in the aisle and children are by the window
Children need to use the restroom frequently and can be restless, so if you don't reserve seats in advance and end up sitting next to strangers, it can be a nuisance. It is best to have the parent manage things from the aisle seat while the child is tucked into the window seat.
