Swimming is also dangerous
Since there has been talk of marathon fatalities,
I wanted to mention that swimming fatalities also occur occasionally.
Fundamentally, because aerobic exercise
tends to easily reach intensities
that push the heart rate to its maximum,
if a moderate-intensity exercise heart rate
is approximately 140 beats per minute,
high-intensity is around 160 to 170.
Swimming is a sport that can be considered
a high-intensity exercise more than you might think,
as the heart rate rises surprisingly fast.
Of course, high-intensity exercise is often recommended
because its benefits are significant,
but conversely, it carries an equal level of risk.
This is because, much like marathons,
it can easily become an exercise that puts excessive strain on the heart.
The key to anything is moderation,
but it seems that maintaining that line is harder than it looks.
My deepest condolences to the deceased.
