How do you all handle unused gifticons?

‌A few days ago, while cleaning up my phone, I checked my gifticon storage
and found more than 10 unused ones.
Most of them were from brands that didn't have stores near my house or office,
or brands I don't particularly eat.
I'm grateful when I receive them, but it's a hassle to go out of my way to use them,
so whenever I get an expiration notice, I just extend them first.
But even after extending them, I end up not using them in the end.
I also looked into cashing them out,
but considering the fees and the secondhand transaction process, it felt a bit complicated.
When I checked the link for the gifticon I received this time,
there was a menu to exchange it for a different product.
I could choose other brands,
and even if the amount was different, I could still exchange it,
so I swapped it for a product from a place I visit often and used it right away.
It was also nice that the sender couldn't see the change history.
After all, it feels a bit awkward to tell someone directly that you changed the gift they sent.
This was my first time using this method,
but I think it's much better than just letting them sit unused.
