Malicious comments and conspiracy theories directed at singer IU have gone too far.
Recently, a post claiming "I was sued by IU for defamation" was posted on social media.
The author of this post listed the location of Kakao headquarters, a person (A) who went missing in Jeju Island in 2020, the purple tracksuit IU wore on JTBC's 'Hyori's Homestay,' and her 2024 release 'Shh...'; regarding the missing person A, they described them as "the individual who used to expose IU on the internet."
This conspiracy theory has emerged following a recent string of disappearance cases in Jeju and is spreading with thousands of 'likes,' but the author's claims are far from the facts.
Person A went missing in December 2020, whereas IU appeared on 'Hyori's Homestay' in 2017, meaning the timelines do not align. Furthermore, the purple clothing in the post is from a past photo rather than the time of the disappearance, and there is no evidence that it is the same product.
These malicious comments and conspiracy theories continue to persist despite IU's ongoing strict legal response against malicious commenters, causing widespread public disapproval.
