I had some silver spoons at home, so I went to sell them.
Before going, I checked the market price, and the items I had were worth 1.7 million KRW at today's rate (market prices change every day).
I went to a gold exchange shop in my neighborhood.
The shop owner said, "Yours is worth 1.2 million KRW." I replied, "I searched and it says it's 1.7 million KRW?"
"That's for silver bars; since yours are silver spoons, it's 1.2 million."
I took the 1.2 million KRW and left.
When I got home and searched again, silver spoons were indeed 1.7 million KRW. I called five other shops, and they all said 1.7 million.
I went back, got a refund, went to a different shop, and received 1.7 million KRW.
1. That owner scammed me.
2. It's just common practice, so it's not technically a scam.
This actually happened to me. If that owner had refused to give me a refund and just told me to deal with it, would I have been able to sue them for fraud?
