Is Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils interesting?

‌I remember being forced to read it when I was young,
and I recall it being one of the less interesting series among Jin Yong's novels.
But I just met someone who said it was incredibly fun.
From what I remember:
Was it Duan Zhengchun? The womanizing father.
The romantic troubles of his son, Duan Yu.
Qiao Feng's constant misfortune.
That kind of thing.
While reading it, I kept wondering, "What is this even trying to say?"
It wasn't cathartic; it just felt like the characters were constantly facing crisis after crisis.

Though, I must admit, the Duan family's Six Meridian Divine Sword was fascinating.
