Among WWII fighter planes, is the Spitfire the number one in terms of performance???

I heard that American planes
were even made using the Spitfire design
I feel like Japanese or Soviet fighters must have been garbage
how was the performance of German fighters???
They seemed to fight quite evenly during the Battle of Britain
