I heard there are so many people who don't know about the 2002 World Cup

I was watching my favorite YouTube channel and I'm truly shocked~~
A professor appearing on the show was lecturing on Korean history,
and they said that students these days don't know about the 2002 World Cup.
Even if they've heard of it, they perceive it the same way we perceive the Korean War...
I was like, "What?~~~~~~"
Another professor appearing on the show said the same thing.
Current students were born in '05 or '06,
so they either don't know the World Cup or view it like Korean history.
I understand it intellectually, but emotionally...
Has the 2002 World Cup really been that long ago?
I was in high school back then, so I couldn't join the street cheering,
but I still remember it so clearly.
