It feels like the Himalayas are just the beginning

It feels like the prelude to a great catastrophe has begun.
They say the Earth's population is around 8 billion now,
but with endless wars and various forms of pollution, the planet is suffering deeply.
Just as the human body heals itself,
I wonder if the Earth has begun its own process of self-purification.
Glaciers melting could lead to events like those in Nepal,
the rate at which land turns into sea could accelerate,
or ancient viruses sealed within the ice could be released.
It seems the Earth might be reducing the population
through self-purification by triggering disasters on many fronts.
It feels like a message being sent to humanity,
who are enjoying a more prosperous, comfortable, and easy life than any other era.
