Seeing Noh Hong-chul's military stories reminded me of a military story I'll remember for a lifetime.

Enlisted in February 2004
Artillery unit driver between Yeoncheon and Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do
I, the 3rd Class Supply Clerk, and the tennis court orderly—on the day of the year's first heavy snowfall—gave a false report to the Duty Officer
and got caught by an Operations Officer (then a Captain) who was obsessed with promotion and was patrolling for snow preparedness
while we were grilling pork belly we had smuggled in at the tennis court.
The Supply Clerk and I at least ate a lot at the beginning, but the tennis orderly, who had just taken over the grilling duties, got caught right as he started eating.
Since we were all in our 3rd month of Sergeant rank, our final leaves were canceled, we had to run with full gear for a week,
and we received 15 days in the brig at the disciplinary committee, but in the end.....
At that time, it felt like the sky was falling, but now, whenever I eat pork belly, I think of those days.
I heard that after our incident, the unit started having a "Pork Belly Day" once every three months.
I later heard from the First Sergeant that our incident was recorded on November 30th in the annual military unit incident calendar.
It has been 20 years since my discharge, but I sometimes miss those days.
