A Society Where Individual Interest Comes First

The pursuit of individual interest is perfectly natural, but looking at the behavior of the younger generation—the so-called MZ generation—while not everyone is like this, I often encounter a level of individualism that feels almost selfish. If you ask whether that is wrong, it is difficult to say definitively, but it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I find myself wondering, "Why go that far?" while they act as if their behavior is perfectly normal. It feels as though this perception of prioritizing individual gain is eroding our traditional moral standards, rendering existing moral values meaningless. I am not saying this is right, but observing the current trends among young people feels like watching a documentary on the selfishness of tourists on Jeju Island. Is altruism non-existent among them? Not necessarily. There is an optical illusion where if just one person in a group of three acts that way, the entire group is perceived as being the same, and perhaps some individuals act that way simply because they belong to such a group. That is what I want to believe.
