Tyson Holyfield's match officiating was strange

If you look at Tyson's early fights,
when an opponent gets hit
and tries to grab Tyson's arms
to avoid getting hit further,
the referee intervenes.
But looking at the Holyfield fight, even after Holyfield got hit by an uppercut
and held onto Tyson's arms for a considerable amount of time,
the referee just let it happen.
It was the same in both the first and second fights.
I wonder if Holyfield would have won
if they had officiated like they did during the early part of Tyson's career.
