Why do people like cold air coming from the north?

It has been observed that when people check the weather forecast, they seem to like it most when it predicts cold air descending from the north. What are the advantages of the weather getting colder due to cold air?
It seems like more than 80% of people like it.
Also, when going to watch a game in person at a stadium, they seem to prefer going when it is cold..
