Why is there talk that Son Ah-seop should have stayed with Lotte as a franchise player?

A common "balance game" (would you rather) in the baseball world is "Giving up a retirement ceremony to earn a few billion more won vs. earning a few billion less to have a retirement ceremony." Does Son Ah-seop fall into this category?
Even Jeon Jun-woo is not evaluated as a guaranteed retirement ceremony candidate, so it's not like Son Ah-seop would have definitely received one just by staying with Lotte.
